Make yourself a Rabbi and get rid of the Doubt.
Installation 2007.
This installation contains a large wooden light box construction, illuminating a print of a photographic print fixed on a plexi sheet. The black and white image is of a circus ring on a pole doubled by its reflection in a pond. A metal pole holding a rabbi's head made of cloth stuffed with acrylic fibre is erected on top of the box.
The title of this work is a quote from The Ethics of the Fathers (Pirkei Avot):
"Rabban Gamaliel used to say: Appoint for thyself a teacher, avoid doubt, and do not make a habit of tithing by guesswork." (1:16).
