Les Fleurs du mal
Sculpture 2017.
After receiving a sewing machine as a birthday gift from her boyfriend, the artist desired to sew him a flower bouquet in return. The petals were made from cloths found at Moroccan fabric stores in Brussels, and the stems were made from metal stripes and wires found at DIY shops. The piece is inspired by Giorgio de Chirico’s new baroque paintings of flowers in which the flowers are oversized compared to the scenery in the background.
